5' 8" (1.73 )It is not a secret that Lara Dutta is a beauty with brains. This was demonstrated when she scored the highest possible marks in the history of the Miss Universe Contest. After this she was crowned Miss Universe 2000, making history as not only the most beautiful but also the most intelligent young woman to wear this crown in the history of Miss Universe.

Lara was born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, on April 16, 1978. Her dad is retired Wing Commander L.K. Dutta and her mother is Jennifer Dutta. Lara has two sisters, one of whom serves in the Indian Air Force, and is the cousin of Nitin Sawhney.

In 1981 the Dutta family re-located to Bangalore, and she was enrolled in St. Francis Xavier Girls' High School where she studied till her 10th Standard, and later did her First Year and Second Year Junior College at the Frank Anthony Public School. After graduating from school, she then went on to earn a degree in Economics from Bombay University. She is fluent in both Hindi and English.

In 1997 Lara enrolled and subsequently won the Miss Gladrags competition, leading her to represent India at the Miss Intercontinental, and thereafter being crowned Miss Universe in 2000 in Cyprus, making her the second Indian to win this prestigious award.

After completing her Miss Universe commitments, she received several offers from Bollywood movie makers, and starred in Andaaz in 2003, which won her considerable recognition, and she subsequently won the best female debut award from Femina.

Thereafter, most of her movies failed to make a mark at the box office, however, she did become popular and a household name. Some of the movies she is remembered for are 'Masti', 'No Entry, 'Kaal', 'Partner', Hey Baby' amongst others.

She is also known for her sense of humor, and a talent for writing. She has now announced that she will writing scripts, and hopes that one day someone from Bollywood will make flicks out of them.

Ajay Devgan was born as Vishal Veeru Devgan in New Delhi on 2 April 1969. He is a Punjabi and the son of Veeru Devgan, a stunt director and Veena Devgan who is known to have produced a film. His uncle is film director Anil Devgan.

1996-2000 In 1997, he moved away from action with the romcom hit Ishq, which also starred Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla, and Kajol. In 1998, he appeared in the Bollywood remake of French Kiss - Pyaar Tho Hona Hi Tha with Kajol. This fell in line among some of the most popular films that year. The same year saw the release of Mahesh Bhatt’s Zakhm, which looked at communal issues in India. The film won several awards including the National Film Award for Devgan’s performance.
His most talked about film in 1999 was Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in which he played Vanraj, a man who tries to help his wife get back together with her lover. He was nominated for the Filmfare Best Actor Award. He produced and acted in Raju Chacha in 2000, along with Kajol. However the film made an average hit at the box office.
2001-2005 His role as Bulwa in the major hit Lajja won him a nomination for Filmfare Best Supporting Actor. Ram Gopal Verma’s Company in 2002 based on the underworld had Devgan playing Malik, a gangleader. His performance was praised. He walked away with the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance and his second National Film Award for his portrayal of the freedon fighter, Bhagat Singh, in Rajkumar Santoshi’s The Legend of Bhagat Singh.
In 2003, the audience feasted on films like Ram Gopal Verma’s horror flick Bhoot, Prakash Jha’s Gangaajal, and J.P.Dutta’s LOC Kargil. This was followed by some diverse but remarkable performances in Mani Ratnam’s Yuva, in which he played a student leader and Rituparno Ghosh’s Raincoat, which was non-mainstream cinema.
2006-2009 Both his releases in 2006 became major hits. Golmaal, a-laugh-a-minute comedy and Vishal Bharadwaj’s Omkaara, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello. Year 2008 saw the release of U, Me Aur Hum, his directorial debut, in which he acted. He also produced and helped with the script of the film. The film received an average response and was partly inspired by 50 First Dates. The sequel Golmaal Returns, with Devgan playing Gopal, was a high-grosser.
He had two releases in 2009 – All the Best, a comedy and London Dreams with Salman Khan and Asin. Both did a fair job.
Next on his hit list is Rajneeti (2010), a political thriller and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai (2010), in which he plays Haji Mastan. He will be seen with Konkona Sen Sharma for the first time in Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge. The third installment of Golmaal is also expected to hit theaters in 2010.

Hema was born in the Tamil-speaking Chakravarthy household on October 16, 1948 in Ammankudi, Tamil Nadu. Her dad's name is V.S.R. Chakravarthy and her mom, Jaya, was a film producer. She was enrolled in the Chennai-based Andhra Mahila Sabha.
After performing as a dancer in a 1961 regional movie, she was rejected by Tamil Director, Sridhar, during 1964 when she first attempted to act, on the grounds that she had no star appeal. Sridhar was proved wrong when Hema persisted, debuted opposite legendary showman, Raj Kapoor in 'Sapnon Ka Saudagar' just 4 years after her rejection.
Thereafter there has no been looking back for this attractive Libran, who went to star in close to 140 movies; who also produced and directed two movies, and also directed a TV serial 'Noopur'.
After turning down marriage proposals from Sanjeev Kumar and Jeetendra, she met with hot fellow actor, Dharmendra, both were attracted to each other and wanted to get married. Dharmendra, who was already married to Prakash Kaur, and had two sons, Sunny and Bobby, could not marry Hema as Prakash refused to divorce him. According to the Hindu Marriage Act, a Hindu cannot marry a second time while the first wife is still alive. Dharmendra belongs to a Arya Samaj Hindu Punjabi Jatt family.
On August 21, 1979, both Hema and Dharmendra converted to Islam, changed their names to Aisha Bi R. Chakravarty and Dilawar Khan Kewal Krishn respectively, and got married in accordance with Islamic rites. Three years after their marriage, Hema subsequently gave birth to Esha and then later to Ahana. Esha is an actress in her own rights. The trio, well proficient in the arts of Bharatnatyam dance form, have performed together at a number of dance events and concerts.

Hema is a member of the right-winged Bharatiya Janata Party, and became a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament.
She was amongst the first actresses to wear bell-bottom and shirts in Hindi movies, and is also amongst the few who have kept their word of not wearing any revealing outfits in public. Hema, who is also called 'Dream Girl' continues to act in movies, with her latest being 'Baabul' in 2006

About the hearing-impaired: I was fascinated by the way in which teachers and parents struggled to reach out to hearing-impaired children. How do you start the communication, how do you keep it going? What takes other children a year to learn takes them ten years for them to absorb. I watched a mother trying so hard, and with such patience, to convey the simplest things - I wanted to make a film about it right away. I find their zest for life and unquenchable fighting spirit a thing to be admired. What a long tough struggle, yet they choose to live with energy and vitality! They don't want our pity, nor have I treated them as people who need our sympathy. You know, as they talk, they hold your hand - they're reaching out desperately, almost entirely through the touch; that is their most basic, urgent mode of communication, more than textbook grammar, than even the language of gesture. There is so much honesty in that touch. We don't touch each other anymore and I think we hear less because of that. I've never felt more reassured than when I held a deaf person's hand.
About his "lack of restraint": Listen, I was born and brought up in Bombay, where people shout at each other from the windows of flats on opposite sides of the streets. I belong to a community with a loud lifestyle. You can't expect dignity, propriety, control and detachment from ME! My talk is full-throated, my expressions full-blooded. I cannot make a film without melodrama.
About Devdas (2002): It's got a garish, nautanki format to it. I've paid tributes to all films like it, from Chaudhvin Ka Chand (1961) to Prem Rog (1982). I've made the film as Raj Kapoor would have made it - over the top. I can't get Bimal Roy's subtle format and delineation anyway...
About teachers: I have learned Odissi; I know what the teacher can do, why we touch his feet. We don't respect our teachers anymore, but to me God is the teacher. He comes into your life once - he can be neurotic, erratic, complex, but he transforms your life and perspective. You must not submit meekly, but question what you're taught. Then the teacher removes your fears about life, the world - and yourself...
What fun to explore a road not taken, to explore blacks, blues and grays instead of riotous colors! You know, those who do only the expected things evaporate form the minds of audiences. Audiences too want a change from the same boring formulas and anyway formulas are failing all the time. I believe that audiences make no special demands. Good fiction, made with honesty, conviction and entertainment, and they'll accept it...
About Saawariya (2007): Saawariya is a simple but exotic love story. True love is divine. It has to have yearning, disappointment and agony.

don't envy anyone's success. I don't have silly insecurities. Maybe because I come from a secure background. I've seen hits and flops all my life. What's there to worry? I know I'm here stay I have fought with Rani and I have fought with Preity at some point or the other but we have become better friends after these fights.
